Two “Pink Panther” Members Arrested for Major Jewelry Heist in Greece

Authorities have arrested two members of the notorious Pink Panthers criminal network in connection with a high-stakes heist at a luxury hotel jewelry store in Greece’s Halkidiki. The heist, which took place on September 2, 2025, resulted in the theft of watches and jewelry valued at nearly €580,000 (approx. $678,000).

International investigation and arrests

The case was solved by the Northern Greece Organized Crime Division. Following the identification of two foreign nationals, aged 48 and 46, European arrest warrants were issued. The 48-year-old was apprehended in Bulgaria, while the 46-year-old was taken into custody in Croatia.

Both men are allegedly members of a sophisticated transnational criminal organization specializing in high-end jewelry heists. These groups are known for their meticulous planning, adaptability, and evolving tactical methods.

The Pink Panther modus operandi

According to the investigation by the Crimes Against Life and Property Department, four members of the cell operated in Greece between August 20 and September 2, 2025. Their operation was characterized by high-level logistics:

• Entry & cover: Members entered Greece at different times using fictitious travel documents.
• Logistics: They used rental vehicles fitted with stolen license plates to evade detection.
• Reconnaissance: The group conducted repeated surveillance (scouting) of the hotel premises to map out security measures.
• Execution: For their arrival and getaway, the perpetrators utilized both the rental cars and electric scooters to navigate the area discreetly.

On the day of the heist in Greece, the 48-year-old suspect of the Pink Panthers and an unidentified accomplice entered the store, brandishing a firearm to neutralize two employees. They made off with luxury timepieces and jewelry totaling €579,805.75 (approx. $678,000). Meanwhile, the 46-year-old suspect and a female accomplice acted as “lookouts,” posing as hotel guests to monitor the surrounding area.

The 48-year-old suspect has a prior criminal record in Switzerland for residential burglaries. Authorities are currently investigating the group’s involvement in similar armed robberies across Europe during 2024 and 2025. Both suspects are currently awaiting judicial decisions in Bulgaria and Croatia regarding their extradition to Greece.
