ADPA Clarifies Its Position on the Appointment of India as Chair of the Kimberley Process (KP) for 2026

Luanda, Angola, 6 January 2025 – The African Diamond Producers Association (ADPA) has taken note ofa false and misleading article published in a Diamond World article under the headline “African producingnations raise concerns about India taking over as KP chair” on the 5th of January 2026.ADPA wishes to congratulate India, an ADPA Observer country since 2025 on its election as KP Chair for2026. ADPA member states are committed to working closely with India during its Chairmanship to furtherstrengthen the KP .The comments attributed to Dr M’zée Fula Ngenge are inaccurate, misleading and reflect his own personalopinions, and do not represent the official position of ADPA or the collective view of the African diamondproducing countries. Furthermore, Dr M’zée Fula Ngenge and the organisation, African Diamond Council(ADC), have no affiliation with ADPA, nor do they have the right to use the ADPA logo. Moreover, the ADCis not recognised by the African governments that are members of ADPA.To draw a clearer picture on the two organisations: ADPA is an intergovernmental organisation establishedon November 4, 2006, through the Luanda Declaration, with headquarters in Luanda, Angola. It unites andrepresents the leading African diamond-producing countries to collectively advocate for their interests in theglobal diamond industry. In contrast, ADC is a separate non-governmental entity led by individuals such asDr. M’zée Fula Ngenge.To maintain journalistic integrity and to avoid misleading readers on matters of governmental representationin the diamond industry, ADPA respectfully request:1. The prompt withdrawal or retraction of the article, which contains misrepresentations and factualinaccuracies which are pervasive, including the unauthorised use of the ADPA official logo.2.
