Last week, our Piece of the Week welcomed spring by celebrating birds with designer Deborah Meyers’ earrings.

This week, we’re going underground with another animal that is vital to the season’s slow rebirth.

At the Couture show in 2022, designer Angely Martinez exhibited as part of “The Radiance by Couture.”

There, she introduced the “Fertile Ascension” collection, which celebrates the cycle of life using a creature not often recreated in jewelry—the earthworm.

This week, the invaluable invertebrate returns to Martinez’s jewelry, this time winding its way around colored gemstones in her expanded line of “Promise” rings.

Each of the 12 rings in the collection features a birthstone for a specific month.

There is a peridot for August, a moonstone for June, an amethyst for February, and, of course, an emerald for May, which is our Piece of the Week.

It is priced at $5,500 in 14-karat gold, with 18-karat gold available by request for all rings.

Martinez’s Promise rings are made-to-order only and sold through her website,
