Timeless Symbols Unite Passover, Easter Jewelry

The springtime rituals that are Passover and Easter not only occur at similar times, but they also happen to have some common symbols and themes that can be found throughout fine jewelry.

These shared symbols—the lamb, eggs, bread or matzo, and green for springtime herbs or plants—are representational of events during these holidays or are shared during the Passover Seder meal, which Jesus shared with his disciples during the Last Supper. Themes of light for the world or the hope for freedom also bond the two events.

At Capucine De Wulf, springtime (with its holidays including Passover and Easter) means new collections with green at the forefront, the designer says.

“We love to explore the symbolism and energy of color, and green feels especially meaningful this time of year. It represents renewal, growth, prosperity, and the fresh promise of the season,” De Wulf says. “Throughout the collection, you’ll see a rich spectrum of greens, from luminous malachite to vibrant turquoise.”

Clovers are a fresh approach to springtime and symbolic jewelry as shown with Capucine De Wulf’s Easter Edit, which includes its Double Sided Clover Charm necklace ($125, middle).

With its striking natural banding, malachite has long been associated with protection and transformation, says the designer. Turquoise, used in reconstituted form for its color and durability, brings a bright, joyful energy that feels perfectly suited to spring.

“Across all of these designs, color is central. We like layering tones of green and turquoise to create pieces that feel vibrant, celebratory, and deeply connected to nature,” De Wulf says. “Spring is a season of renewal and gathering, and these designs are meant to feel joyful, lucky, and full of life.”

This year, Passover starts on at sundown on Wednesday and Easter takes place on Sunday.
