You Can Finally, Officially Buy a Luxury Watch on Amazon

Luxury watches are one of the few retail categories Amazon hasn’t covered.

The online mega-retailer is overflowing with budget watch options and has long contained a “gray market” of random high-end offerings from unofficial third-party vendors. But, as part of a broader expansion of Amazon Luxury, the website is now an authorized dealer of one prestigious watchmaker, and it is a pretty good place to start.

Amazon is dipping its toe in the luxury watch market with a well-curated selection from Longines. As one of the marquee brands in the Swatch Group Family, the Swiss watchmaker offers an ideal cross-section of classic designs at relatively approachable pricing.

The debut collection of Longines watches, officially shipped and sold by Amazon, comprises 130 references across the men’s and women’s lines. Prices range from $900 for a Conquest Quartz, one of the few battery-powered offerings, to $4,400 for a Master Collection Chrono Moonphase and an Avigation Big Eye Chronograph.

A tightly curated group

Some of the highlights of Amazon’s new monobrand luxury watch department include a fan-favorite retro diver, a historically significant travel watch and pound-for-pound one of the best affordable watches for daily wear.

There are four options available in the super compressor-style Legend Diver, consisting of three 39mm references in steel and one 42mm bronze variant.

Amazon offers several versions of the Spirit Zulu Time, a GMT collection dating back to 1925 that helped establish the genre. It is available with a blue or black dial with gilt detailing. The blue dial has a blue 24-hour bezel, while the black dial is available with a bezel in black, green or blue.

When it comes to overall wearability, a metric crucial for introducing luxury watches to Amazon’s massive marketplace, few watches outperform the Longines Conquest.

However, the Conquest collection is huge, and Amazon only carries three references. There is a 38mm with a black dial and steel bracelet, a 38mm with a blue dial and matching rubber strap and a 41mm with a blue dial and steel bracelet.

Availability and price

Longines offers a massive selection of watches, and arguably the best bang-for-your-buck in the luxury market. I personally couldn’t think of a better brand to introduce Amazon’s expansive audience to the world of top-shelf timekeeping.
