GemGuide Launches Pricing for Montana Sapphires

New York—GemGuide has brought back its pricing charts for Montana sapphires.

The launch includes pricing for blue, blue/green (teal), and green stones, though the company said additional colors will likely be added in future issues.

Pricing is grouped into three new charts, categorized as good, fine, and extra fine, rather than listing separately for the 10 grades due to a narrow range of pricing for the material, said GemGuide. 

The commercial categories have not been populated for these charts.

GemGuide only lists goods up to 2.99 carats, as most Montana sapphire material is small, it said.

Prices are based primarily on material from Missouri River and Rock Creek, which make up most of the current Montana sapphire market.

The charts do not include prices for Yogo Gulch material, as GemGuide noted that production has been sporadic in recent decades and supply is limited, meaning pricing is on a per-stone basis rather than fitting into guidelines. 

The three new charts launched Jan. 1 on the app and are included in the Jan/Feb 2026 GemGuide print edition and digital flipbook, in the corundum section.

This is the first time GemGuide has offered Montana sapphire prices since 2014.
