29-Year-Old Man Charged in Multiple Seattle-Area Smash and Grabs

Seattle—Prosecutors in Washington state have charged one of the four men believed to be involved in a $2 million smash-and-grab jewelry store robbery as well as smash and grabs at two Seattle-area pawn shops.

Da’Sean Syree Harrison, 29, faces one count of first-degree robbery and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm in the Aug. 14 smash-and-grab at Menashe & Sons Jewelers, according to charging documents filed Oct. 21 by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Menashe & Sons, located in West Seattle, is a family-owned independent jewelry store that has been in business since 1973.

According to information Seattle police released back in August, the robbery happened just before noon.

Four masked suspects broke through the jewelry store’s locked front door with hammers.

Once inside, they smashed six display cases, making off with an estimated $2 million in jewelry, diamonds, and luxury watches, police said.

The robbery took about a minute and a half.

Video from the store’s security cameras shared with local news station KOMO shows one of the robbers threatening store staff with what police said was bear spray.

No injuries were reported, and the suspects fled in a getaway car before officers got there, Seattle police said. 

Also on Oct. 21, King County prosecutors filed a separate case against Harrison charging him with two counts of first-degree robbery and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm in smash and grabs at two Cash America locations. 

According to the charging documents, Harrison, along with two other individuals, stole jewelry, coins, and other merchandise from the Cash America pawn shop in Renton, Washington, on Jan. 24. 

He is charged with doing the same at the Cash America in Shoreline, Washington, on Feb. 15. 

Harrison allegedly wielded a sledgehammer in all three robberies.

According to the Seattle Police Department, Seattle detectives and officers from the Renton Police Department arrested Harrison on Oct. 16.

In a post on X, Renton police said he was arrested at his home in Renton, a Seattle suburb.

Renton officers recovered a loaded gun, meth, fentanyl, a scale, and $1,000 in cash, according to the post, while Seattle detectives recovered two additional guns and a mask, along with ammunition and suspected narcotics.

The firearms charges filed against Harrison in both cases stem from the fact that he is a convicted felon—according to charging documents, he previously was convicted of second-degree attempted robbery in King County—and thereby cannot own, possess, or access guns. 

Harrison was booked into the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent, Washington, where he is being held on $250,000 bail.

The Seattle Police Department said none of the jewelry stolen from Menashe & Sons Jewelers—which includes about $700,000-$800,000 in Rolex watches, a $125,000 emerald necklace, and a large amount of gold jewelry—has been recovered. 

The three other suspects involved in the Menashe & Sons smash and grab remain at large, and the investigation remains active.
