New York—Indian retailer Tanishq has opened two new U.S. locations in Florida and Virginia.
It opened a 5,500-square-foot showroom in Tysons Corner, Virginia, on Aug. 8, celebrating its grand opening on Dec. 2.
The location was a natural choice for its expansion, said the company, noting the area is at the center of the region's Indian and South Asian communities, drawing in shoppers from Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, the metropolitan area also known as the DMV region.
The store offers both traditional and contemporary jewelry designs, with everyday jewels as well as pieces for weddings and special occasions.
"Tysons is one of the most dynamic retail destinations in the country, and opening here marks an important step in our U.S. journey," said Amritpal Singh, business head, Titan Company Limited North America Inc.
"The DMV is home to a vibrant and culturally rich South Asian community, and we're looking forward to becoming part of the region's growing jewelry landscape."
Tanishq is owned by The Tata Group, a Mumbai-based multinational conglomerate that owns 30 companies across 10 categories, including Tata Motors, Tata Consultancy Services, Air India, and Jaguar Land Rover.
The Tata Group also owns watch, jewelry, and eyewear brand Titan Company Limited, which is the parent company of Tanishq
.
The grand opening event featured a ceremonial lamp lighting and a ribbon-cutting ceremony, with a performance by South Asian dance company Naachworld and a violin recital.
There were several notable attendees, including Vinay Mohan Kwatra, ambassador of India to the United States, and Arun Narayan, CEO of the Tanishq jewelry division.
Tanishq has also opened its first location in Florida at The Florida Mall in Orlando.
The 1,800-square-foot location opened Oct. 4 with its grand opening held on Dec. 4.
"Orlando offered an opportunity to introduce Tanishq to a global audience," said Singh.
"With its fast-growing population, thriving tourism, and strong South Asian community, it's an ideal market for our expansion. We're excited to bring our craftsmanship and modern approach to Indian fine jewelry to Central Florida, and to offer a destination where customers can discover pieces for every celebration."
The location offers more than 5,000 pieces for everyday wear and special occasions, it said, with collections available that are exclusive to the Orlando market.
Tanishq has more than 400 retail stores worldwide, with 10 stores in the U.S. market, including locations in Atlanta, Seattle, Houston, and Santa Clara, California.
