Singapore to Host World Diamond Congress 2026 from July 12–15

The World Diamond Congress (WDC), a joint assembly of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA), will be held in Singapore from July 12–15, 2026. The event is scheduled to take place at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, marking the Congress’ return to Singapore after nearly four decades.

Fabio Cascapera of the Diamond Exchange of Singapore (DES) and the WDC 2026 Organizing Committee, highlighted the significance of hosting the Congress again in the region. “Since the 1988 World Diamond Congress held in Singapore 37 years ago, our industry has gone through a myriad of developments and transformations, but one thing has not changed: diamonds remain one of the top luxury products desired and cherished by consumers of all cultural backgrounds and ages,” he said.

The organizers emphasized the growing importance of Asia as a key driver of global jewellery demand. “Over the past few decades, the pan-Asian consumer markets have blossomed, making diamonds, coloured gemstones and gem-set jewellery highly desired by the middle classes,” noted Suresh Hathiramani, former DES President and Organizing Committee member. He added that luxury demand continues to rise not only in China and India but also in markets such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.

The Congress also aims to deepen Africa–Asia cooperation within the global diamond pipeline. Hathiramani said the organizing committee looks forward to welcoming colleagues from Africa — home to most of the world’s gem-quality diamond mines — to explore new synergies and opportunities between both regions.

With participation expected from leading miners, manufacturers, traders, technology providers and policymakers, the 2026 edition is positioned to serve as an important platform for industry dialogue and business development.
