On Now: Bonhams’ California Jewels Sale

Bonhams is sending 265 fine jewelry lots to the auction block for its California Jewels sale, taking place today in Los Angeles.

Highlights include a selection of rare, untreated colored gemstones—vibrant emeralds, rich rubies, and deep sapphires. Headlining the auction, with an estimate of $40,000–$60,000, is a sapphire and diamond ring in 18k white gold (pictured at top). Its 6.63 ct. cushion-shape sapphire is surrounded by approximately 1.9 cts. t.w. round diamonds.

Bonhams is also offering antique and vintage jewels, each with its own unique history and appeal, as well as striking contemporary designs and signed creations from prestigious jewelry houses including Tiffany and Buccellati. Circa 1905 platinum ring with 2.95 ct. old European-cut diamond and single-cut diamonds, estimate $12,000–$18,000
