Piece of the Week: Buddha Mama’s ‘Monstera’ Wrap Ring

图片.pngWhile many on the East Coast have been dripping in sweat from the heatwave this week, plants native to tropical climates are thriving.

The heatwave put about 127 million Americans under a National Weather Service heat advisory, according to AP News, rising to triple-digit temperatures in 21 places, breaking or matching at least 50 heat records.

A lover of heat and humidity, the Monstera plant enjoys this type of weather, growing glossy and perforated leaves. Certain holey species have even earned the nickname “Swiss cheese plant.”

Monsteras can often be seen in Southern Florida, as the region is categorized as a tropical climate.

Mother-daughter team Nancy Badia and Dakota Badia of Miami-based brand Buddha Mama only needed to look to the plants in the brand’s villa garden for inspiration for their “Monstera” wrap ring.

“We’re from Miami, and Monstera is incredibly beautiful and a huge player in our regional horticulture,” said the Badias.

“The leaf shape is magical!”

The Monstera wrap ring features details of the plant’s leaf in 20-karat yellow gold with diamond accents.

The brand debuted the piece at Couture earlier this month, as part of its “Miami” collection.

Also at Couture, the brand celebrated the 10-year anniversary of exhibiting at the trade show.

In honor of the milestone, the Badias also launched new designs featuring the distinctive material beloved by Buddha Mama fans—enamel.

New enamel colors “Clementine” and “Kelly,” shades of orange and green, joined the brand’s offerings.

The Monstera wrap ring retails for $16,950.

Buddha Mama is stocked at Marissa Collections, with pieces available on its website.
