Vibrant charm of coloured gemstones

Jewellers are offering fascinating coloured gemstone pieces to captivate buyers who are looking for variety and unmatched artistry in their collections. 

French jewellery maison Fred recently unveiled the Monsieur Fred Ideal Light High Jewellery Collection, inspired by its founder Fred Samuel’s childhood memories in Argentina. The collection pays tribute to the radiant marvels, nature and culture of Argentina through four jewellery sets featuring an array of coloured gems.

A standout piece is a ring adorned with a round, vivid orange spessartite garnet and a cushion-cut red spinel. It is further embellished with an openwork baguette-cut paving of pink and red spinel stones and mandarin garnets as well as brilliant-cut diamonds.

Gem traders and jewellers likewise cast the spotlight on exceptional coloured gemstones at Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW) 2024, which took place from September 16 to 22.

Aspire Designs Ltd showcased the Oceans Crown jewellery set, comprising a necklace, bangle, ring and pair of earrings adorned with 185 carats of Paraiba tourmaline stones from Mozambique and 90 carats of diamonds.

Coloured gemstones also reigned supreme in the collections of Alexander Laut Co Ltd, which specialises in designer jewellery with rare gems. 

Highlights included an exquisite ring with a 29.14-carat unheated yellow sapphire embellished with 2.95 carats of diamonds and 0.93 carat of tsavorites set in white and yellow gold; and a Vietnamese spinel ring with a 10.45-carat centre stone set in platinum and embellished with 1.69 carats of diamonds.
