Fascination for nature-inspired high jewellery

Luxury jewellers are taking the grandeur of fancy colour diamonds and coloured gemstones to new heights with these high jewellery collections that celebrate the natural world.

The year 2024 marked the launch of several nature-inspired luxury jewellery masterpieces. A standout collection was Cartier’s Nature Sauvage High Jewellery Collection, which pays homage to life in nature unfolding before the eyes of the observer.

“Captured in a fleeting moment, they tell us their stories,” narrates Cartier. “From the pendant of a necklace, a turtle escapes to become a brooch, whilst a pink flamingo points its head towards the centre of a bush of emerald reeds. The style is varied, free and figurative.”

A hero piece in the collection is the Panthère Jaillissante ring-bracelet in white gold with an 8.63-carat Zambian emerald centre gem and sapphire, onyx and diamond accents. 

“This fully articulated ring-bracelet adds a wild energy to even the smallest of gestures. Its suppleness, resulting from a true feat of craftsmanship, reinforces the power of an animal whose anatomy is expressed by expert sculpting,” the jeweller said.

De Beers Jewellers, for its part, unveiled Forces of Nature as an ode to the beauty and magnetism of the animal kingdom. A total of 58 one-of-a-kind jewels were presented in eight sets dedicated to creatures native to southern Africa, a region close to the heart of the jewellery house. 

As the company’s largest-ever high jewellery collection, Forces of Nature encompasses timeless necklaces and earrings, spectacular cuffs and cocktail rings alongside cufflinks, lapel pins, brooches and headbands. The sculptural jewels come alive with intricate details, combining multiple diamond cuts, colours, textures and setting techniques to echo the rich diversity of the natural world. 

Almost half of the pieces are transformable, with detachable elements offering the utmost versatility and wearability.
