Natural Diamonds Steal the Scene at Luxury in Las Vegas

The Luxury show in Las Vegas is an excellent place to go diamond trendspotting, as JCK discovered last week. From the designers showing in the NouvelleBox ballroom to the heavy hitters on the main show floor, exhibitors brought out their finest diamond-centric designs to impress buyers.

Below are three brands whose way with natural stones certainly impressed us.

Willow Diamonds

Necklace in platinum with polki-cut diamonds, $12,850; Willow Diamonds

Jacquie Earle, founder and owner of the New York City fine jewelry manufacturer Willow Diamonds, introduced a number of designs featuring polki diamonds set in platinum. Traditionally set in 22k yellow gold, the flat gems, which preserve the rough shape of raw, uncut diamonds, were featured in small clusters that juxtaposed their unique shapes.

“Mixed shapes have gotten very popular,” Earle said.

Willow also presented new hoop earring designs featuring tiny diamond danglers and a new “fishnet chain” with laser-cut diamonds interspersed between gold links.

Wyld Box Jewelry

Wyld Box designer Rosanna Fiedler unveiled her new Pietre (“stones” in Italian) collection, which draws inspiration from a 1970s vintage Saint Laurent necklace she discovered on Poshmark.

The range includes marquise-shape diamonds paired with high-polish 18k yellow gold, including a striking design featuring two stacked marquise-shape silhouettes, one set with a sizable natural diamond and the other in simple, gleaming gold.

Fiedler said she hadn’t encountered any price resistance from her clients. “It’s been more about the look,” she told JCK. “I keep hearing, ‘I just want something unique.’”

Wyld Box also introduced its new Eclipse collection, inspired by a 1970s unsigned Mexican silver open collar with a seductive wrap motif. The style smothered with pavé diamonds caught our eye (natch).

Rahaminov

Rahaminov’s booth featured a jaw-dropping display of natural diamonds, some as big as bird’s eggs. We were mesmerized by a 20 ct. heart-shape diamond on an 18k white gold rigid collar, a 36 ct. cushion-cut diamond ring that towered over our hand; and a 30.29 ct. bezel-set radiant-cut fancy yellow diamond on a yellow gold chain.

But the piece that froze us in our tracks was a bypass ring set in 18k rose gold with two fancy greenish-blue diamonds totaling 5.84 cts. and accented with fancy pink diamonds. While Melanie Goldfiner Goldberg, the brand’s chief marketing and business development officer, declined to reveal the price of the ring, she conceded that it was a seven-figure jewel. Hubba hubba!
