Follow the Beat With Etiq’s ‘Khol’ Ring

Kinetic elements add the perfect touch of whimsy and playfulness to an elegant piece of jewelry like our Piece of the Week, Etiq’s “Khol” ring.

The ring features a lapis lazuli that was hand-carved in a design that nods to the traditional Indian Khol drum. It is set in an 18-karat yellow gold band, fashioned in a way that allows the carved stone to spin.

Kartik Shah, the creative director of Etiq, is often inspired by his journeys to India when designing for the brand, which creates jewelry with an East-meets-West lens.

He said he felt compelled to translate the Khol drum’s essence into jewelry because it has a distinct shape and is often clad with ornate brass, making it a unique and decorative instrument.

“It’s designed to be a small and elegant reminder that life should be filled with play. The carved gem gently spins, creating a tactile experience for its wearer,” added Shah.

The Khol ring debuted in late 2025 as part of Etiq’s core collection of distinctive and versatile fine jewelry essentials.

While our Piece of the Week is the lapis version, the style is also available in tiger’s eye or rock crystal.

However, Etiq cuts its gemstones in house, so it can also make customized versions of the piece with alternative gemstones such as emerald or pink tourmaline.

The Khol ring retails for $3,500 and is available on the Etiq website.
