Casio Shrinks its G-Shock Watch

The G-Shock DWN5600 is a ring-sized version of the 5600 series watch, and it comes in black, yellow, or red ($110).

Dover, N.J.—Casio America, Inc. has shrunk its G-Shock 5600 series watch, the first G-Shock made in 1983, to the size of a ring.

The new rings, known as the G-Shock DWN5600, are approximately one-tenth the size of the original watch.

“The DWN5600 takes the unmistakable shape of the classic G-Shock and scales it down to an unexpected form, offering a new way to wear toughness on your hand,” said Casio.

The rings offer the same key features as the watch—it is shock resistant, 200-meter water resistant, and has a pulsing light that glows subtly at a preset time or at the top of every hour.

The rings are G-Shock’s most compact shock-resistant construction, the brand said, featuring a glass fiber-reinforced resin case and a fully protective bio-based resin bezel and band.

High-density mounting technology was used for the miniature module and battery.

To reproduce the intricate bezel, band, and case, an advanced molding technology was used. Then, the pieces were finished with stainless steel components for the buttons, buckle, and caseback.

The digital displays are fully functioning with a 12/24-hour format, dual time, stopwatch, and auto-calendar.

The watch rings are available in three colors—black, red, or yellow.

The strap allows for an adjustable fit ranging from approximately 48 to 82 mm, which, according to this chart, is equivalent to ring sizes 4.5 through about 20.

Casio’s G-Shock DWN5600 watch rings launched Dec. 3 in the new G-Shock “Nano” collection.

It retails for $110 and is available in-store at G-Shock’s location in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City or online at the G-Shock website.
