Inspiration for jewelry design can stem from anywhere, from the stars in the sky to a miniscule insect and even twisting architecture.

When it comes to Wyld Box Jewelry’s founder and designer Rosanna Fiedler, she often looks to vintage artistry when creating and reimagines these designs in pieces made for the modern woman.

For our Piece of the Week, the “Ray of Light” drop earrings, she found inspiration in a vintage Cartier clutch.

The Cartier “Sunburst Golden Compact” clutch was made circa 1960 in France in 18-karat yellow gold with a sapphire clasp.image.png

Fiedler reimagined Cartier’s sunburst motif as drop earrings with a diamond at the center of the design. The large version of these earrings uses a total of 2 carats of diamonds set in 18-karat yellow gold.

“The clutch has always represented more than an accessory to me—it’s a keepsake of eras past, something that carries memories, secrets, and stories,” said Fiedler.

“I wanted to translate that sense of timeless allure into jewelry—pieces that feel reborn yet eternal.”

The Ray of Light earrings debuted in May alongside Wyld Box Jewelry’s “Ray of Light” collection, which continued to reimagine the motif as pendants, rings, cuffs, and studs.

Fiedler added, “The earrings and the collection as a whole draw from the same spirit—vintage forms reimagined with a bold, modern edge, made for women who dare to stand out.”

The Ray of Light large drop earrings retail for $19,200 and are available on the Wyld Box website.
