Maeve Gillies Debuts a 3D-Printed Platinum Collection

Named for the Scottish Gaelic word for pioneer, Maeve Gillies’ Tùsaire collection, created in partnership with Platinum Guild International (PGI), is one of exploration.

Tùsaire features 30 one-of-a-kind pieces—torc necklaces, cuffs, rings, and earrings—all created using 3D-printed platinum and titanium, in a test of applying this technological advancement to jewelry-making. Several of the Tùsaire jewels are set with native Scottish gemstones.

“My love for gold made me a jeweler, but my passion for studying the possibilities of platinum made me a better designer,” Gillies says. “As the majority of my work is diamond bridal jewelry, I learned by experience that platinum is the ideal bridal metal due to its strength, resilience, and suitability for diamond design innovation..

“For this 3D-printed jewelry collection, my platinum knowledge was valuable in allowing me to design new solutions for and with the printing technology, to help transform platinum into new jewelry looks and categories.”

Gillies debuted the collection at the Inhorgenta show in Munich last month, and it is now available now at maevegillies.com, maevona.com, and pop-ups in select retailers worldwide. The designer says to expect a new bridal collection later this year.
