Verragio Refreshes Lumino Collection for a New Generation of Brides

Here comes the…new bridal collections, and for Verragio they include Lumino, a signature setting the brand is reviving after a decades-long hiatus.

Lumino was one of the first ring settings Barry Verragio created when he founded the company in 1996. The 2025 version will come out this spring, but select retailers previewed the collection at the recent Centurion trade show, and Verragio reps are starting to show samples as they visit stores this month.

“The Lumino collection was first introduced over 25 years ago to showcase the diamond from every angle. With minimal metal, we’re able to showcase the natural beauty of diamonds,” Barry Verragio says.

Verragio’s updated Lumino collection, due out this spring, will include engagement rings as well as diamond bands. 

This is the right time to reintroduce this type of setting, he notes. “The new collection is refined and graceful in styling, yet diamond-intense—perfect for the larger-carat center stones we’re seeing today,” says Verragio. “The larger stones and fancy shapes available in the Lumino collection lend themselves to the trends in the overall market, but with the timeless quality our customers expect from Verragio.”

With larger center stones dominating bridal trends because of lab-grown diamonds and their lower prices, Lumino had to be able to handle diamonds of 2 to 4 cts. Consumer preference for larger accent stones is also growing, according to the Natural Diamond Council’s latest trend report, which said sales of natural diamonds in the 2 ct. to 2.24 ct. range rose 18% in 2024, to account for 10% of the market.

Verragio says he wanted to create a big-diamond look that is comfortable and wearable for clients. Lumino elevates the center stone above the band to capture more light than traditional settings, exposing every facet of the diamond so that it reflects light at all angles, he says.

The revamped Lumino collection picks up on bridal trends like larger center stones and wider bands, founder Barry Verragio says. 

Verragio has developed eternity bands and earrings for the Lumino collection this time around, focusing on clients’ lifestyles that call for lighter, easy-to-wear jewelry. 2025 Lumino prices will range from $3,650 to $17,200.

Lumino rings will be available with natural or lab-grown diamonds, and Verragio says he’s been getting more customers for lab-grown than ever before. A 2023 survey by wedding website The Knot reported that close to half (46%) of all center stones were lab-grown, marking a nearly fourfold increase in that percentage since 2019.

Bridal trends also are moving toward wider bands as well as less-traditional diamond shapes and settings, as seen in celebrity engagement rings such as Zendaya’s and Selena Gomez’s.
