Britt’s Pick: Meira T’s Conch Fossil Necklace

I was originally drawn to Meira T’s conch pendant for its coastal vibe—it seems my yearning for the beach increases with each passing February day—but this charming necklace has serious layers.

Start with the obvious: that fossilized conch, clocking in above 9 cts. in size. This type of less conventional material is a fun departure in a world of gemstones, and the conch fossil is a bejeweled bit of geological history. Luminous in its spiraling form, it’s a treasure of the sea’s past, preserved in a piece primed for everyday magic.

Like all of Meira T’s pieces, the pendant has an “it” factor—a cool-girl style that’s modern, layerable, and very collectible, complete with in-demand details that get a fossil looking positively fresh.

The more we see of two-tone jewels, the more consumers (me included) seem to love them, and this one does it so beautifully, seamlessly well. Its yellow gold chain contrasts with a collection of diamond-decorated charms, in circle and square form, arrayed along the lower portion of the chain.

And then, an unexpectedly delightful detail sets the whole thing ablaze: Blue rhodium outlines the conch, helping to highlight the azure within the pendant’s iridescent gathering of color. Tying the whole thing together in one lively little package, the conch’s border is lined with diamonds, for a sparkle to match the charms above.

The one-of-a-kind necklace is still available as of press time, and the brand offers other fossil pieces done up Meira T–style, including this gorgeous bit of earthly blue goodness.
