Snake-inspired jewellery shines in CNY 2025
Featured
Sleek and sinuous snake-centred jewellery designs, further augmented by diamonds and coloured gemstones, are taking pride of place in the jewellery world in celebration of the 2025 Lunar New Year.
Hong Kong-based fine jewellery designer Chantel Shafie recently unveiled a new diamond-encrusted Medallion Necklace featuring a 24-karat solid gold Hong Kong coin with a snake curled into a lucky number eight.
The sixth animal of the Chinese Zodiac, the snake symbolises transformation, adaptability and grace, according to the company. The snake in the Medallion Necklace is surrounded by four flowers representing Hong Kong’s four seasons – Spring’s Cotton Tree, Summer’s Lotus Flower, Autumn’s Hibiscus and Winter’s Hong Kong Camellia.
Luxury jewellers are also offering snake-inspired masterpieces. Bulgari’s iconic 75-year-old Serpenti Collection, which comprises watches, rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets, is a popular choice. The beloved collection offers eclectic interpretations of the sensuous snake design in gold embellished with dazzling diamonds.
Meanwhile, Tiffany & Co is also commemorating the Year of the Snake with classic and refined jewellery designs, headlined by the Lock Ruby Pendant and new additions to the Elsa Peretti snake collection.
